In regards to Stephen Bilow's entry in the John Waddell' Permanent Memorial Guestbook
"...John always told me that the Great Harmonic Set would make my college music theory experience easy. Well... It didn't! But, that because of me, not the GHS. Because the GHS might be one of the most profound discoveries in the history of 20th century music theory and I'm very sad that he never got a chance to publish on it.
By John's request, I have been honored to receive the balance of his music theory notes, including those on the Great Harmonic Set, mostly archived as interactive hypercard stacks.
In the months to come, I will be meeting with his firends Peter Meckel and Bob Randall in Carmel, CA to organize these writings for the purpose of publishing them, with the proceeds of which going to the JSW Memorial Fund. As many of us agree, these theories of John's are too profound to be forgotten.
I was able to discuss this idea with John and he approved wholeheartedly and will be documenting progress on this effort as it occurs.
best,
Peter Grenader
